The greatest part of being in the image and likeness of Elohim is He is Love. The bible is a lesson in love, because when we failed in the Garden, we fell out of love with our Creator, and became lost. We became so wicked and vial that God had to wipe us out and start over with Noah, an experience so traumatic that we find that Noah in this new world found himself drunk. Much as in the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah where once again the wickedness and lack of love of a people mandated the judgment of the Almighty which ended in only a man and his two daughters surviving from the city. Our greatest challenge, yet our greatest victory will be in loving others as Christ loved us. Our very existence is the expression of God’s love for He is Love. The Hebrew word for love tells the story much better than mere English words can express.
A primitive root; to have affection for (sexually or otherwise): – (be-) love (-d, -ly, -r), like, friend.
Important to note Hebrew is written from right to left so in honor of keeping true to the language I right Hebrew in the order it is written but explain it in English in the order in which we right.
The first character in this word “Ahab” which is the word for Love is the picture graph of an ox’s head. In Hebrew the letters of the alphabet are not simply symbols as it is in English, but they are characters. Each character is based on the function of the animal or thing that it represents. Thus, () is the picture of an ox and an ox is a strong domestic servant. Hence, the character means strength. In Hebrew the characters also double as numbers and so () being the first character in the Hebrew Aleph Bet means first. The second character in the Hebrew word for love, which would be in the heart of the word is the character, Hey (), which is the picture of a person with their hands up beholding something greater than themselves. Thus to behold, to reveal, or to see is it’s meaning. The final character is the second character of the Hebrew alephbet and it means house (). It also means inside because the most important function of a house is those who dwell within it. The interesting picture is that the first and last character of love means Father. Thus the Father is the “strength of the house”. By inserting the in the center of the word we see that love is to see the father. Scripture teaches us that no man hath seen the Father at any time, but the only begotten son that is in the bosom (which is the heart of our being) of the Father hath declared him. (John 1:18) Thus when we saw the Son, who walked in full obedience to the Father has become for us the revealed love of God. Powerful. The love of the Father () was revealed () in the birth, life, crucifixion, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of the Son (Y’hushah Ha Maschiach, Jesus the Christ).
The greatest character flaw we as people reflect by disobeying the will of God is that of love. Because love was obedient even unto death, even death of the Cross to YHVH (Abba). (Php. 2:8) Walking in love is doable. It is the way of the transgressor that is hard scripture reveals. (Prov. 13:15) Because we were made in the image and likeness of God, we were created to walk in the fullness of His character, our bodies were not created to sin, and thus sin equals death within because it requires us to fight against ourselves. Scripture makes that clear a house divided cannot stand, and thus we bring death upon ourselves by walking contrary to the character of the Almighty.
Walking in love leads to longer life it is the heart of why the first commandment with promise comes with living longer, that if children honor their father and mother. (Exo. 20:12) It is the message of 1 Jn. 4 which determines if we are children of our Father God or of the father of lies the devil. It is how we know we are in God and he is in us, and the blessed assurance we can have in knowing that if we are in him we can have boldness in the day of judgment. Our walk in this life is working up a judgment on our behalf, one that will bring about boldness for our good, or condemnation towards our end, however we must make that choice.
Finally as we end with the characteristics of God that ought to be in us as the foundation in our teaching of understanding the will of YHVH for our life, I want to encourage you to live your life in obedience to YHVH. Not because it saves you, but because you love Him, even as He loved you and walked before you the life you ought to live. He did that so you won’t have an excuse to do otherwise, seeing that the one we are to imitate has left His testimony for us to follow. I realize this world doesn’t make it easy to do what is easy to do, but always remember that the whole world lies in wickedness, and it is darkness’s job to try to drive out the light, but it is the lights job to shed light on darkness because the two can’t inhabit the same space. So instead of putting the light of Christ that is in you under a bushel let it shine before men so that when they see your good works they will glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
