Understanding the seven characteristics of YHVH is the foundation for understanding the Will of YHVH for your life. Understanding is the necessary bridge we must cross in order to get to her, wisdom that is. If we think about knowledge as being on one side of a cliff and understanding being the bridge that connects us to the other side of the cliff we are trying to get to which is wisdom. The distance between the two being too far to jump across, and too deep to risk falling, then we find that we can have knowledge, but without the bridge of understanding the path is too far for us to get to wisdom, and unfortunately many people spend their entire lives paying for knowledge only to never even find the bridge of understanding to have wisdom before times up. If you find yourself having the fortitude to read this article and to have kept up with this series consider yourself in the minority of the entire world who will acquire degrees many, and will ever be learning, but never coming to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Tim. 3:7) Whose eyes will always be darken though they search for her (wisdom) with all of the tools that knowledge has within it’s hands.
Don’t get me wrong, knowledge is necessary to get to the bridge. I mean if we do not have the ground beneath us to hold us up we are free falling in which the end of that person is destruction. So I do not minimize knowledge in this process of learning, I am simply saying that it is just the first step, but a necessary step it is. Those who neglect this step can find themselves as pointed out dead before they find the bridge. Knowledge is the basics that we can acquire and reveals that we are reaching for God, but understanding requires humility. It means that we have to depend on someone greater than ourselves to translate the information we have received. The lithmus test to our understanding is revealed in our application of the information we have, and wisdom reveals that we understand why what we did worked. A person who has wisdom understands the formula thus, they can duplicate the recipe in the event of repetition being required. This is why a wealthy person who loses their wealth can easily acquire it again as long as they understand why what they did worked.
Wisdom is spoken of in scripture in the feminine form, and while our male counterparts may find some solace in ignoring us because of Eve’s deception, it doesn’t erase the fact that in Yah’s infinite wisdom He chose to connect wisdom throughout the book of proverbs to that of a wise woman. Unfortunately, too many of our young men will go down the road to destruction because wisdom had called out to him and their inability to discern the virtuous woman of wisdom from the seductive woman of whoredom causes them to make poor choices that have destructive consequences to their future. Thus as stated earlier if we pursue wisdom instead of riches we will receive both. This is the understanding of why Solomon achieved such great success. He didn’t seek after riches, rather he sought after wisdom, and understanding that wisdom answers the “why something works” question, meant that all the other things would come. Wisdom ultimately representing the Kingdom of God, we can now understand why Matt. 6:33 instructs us to seek first the Kingdom of God, and all the other things will come. This was walked out in Solomon’s earliest days in power, thus, God gave him all the other stuff because he sought the Kingdom in his request.
Think about it, if you understand why your body functions better with certain foods rather than others then it stands to reason if you follow the wisdom you acquired your life will be healthier and longer. If you understand why your business formula produced wealth then you understand how to duplicate it thus your pockets get fatter. This is why proverbs not only connects wisdom to the feminine gender but also compares it to rare jewels like rubies, or precious minerals like gold. It may take you a lifetime to find the formula, but if the formula is accurate it represents a greater wealth to leave down to the next generation then a handsome trust fund. How many children do we know who didn’t get their parents formula for success grew only to lose the wealth their parents acquired in their lifetime? Had their parents had the wisdom to pass down instead of the accumulated wealth then the family dynasty would be established for as long as they kept the secret.
The word of Yah is the timeless formula that has been passed down from generation to generation that if believers lived by it would see generational prosperity. The reasons many believers suffer from the very diseases that the God of Israel said he wouldn’t put on His people, is due to his people not believing or knowing what his word said about how to have life, and have it more abundantly. Yes we know the scripture that says that Jesus came that we might have life and that more abundantly, but we haven’t figured out the formula that Jesus walked in so that the blessings that were upon Him would be upon us. While the poor would be with us always, this was not supposed to be the case for His children. His children were called to be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, to be lenders and not borrowers, why? (Deut. 28:1-14) Because our wealth just like our works are supposed to connect those who are without to the Creator.
Our misunderstanding the instructions of God written in the first five books has caused us to be subject to the very curses that Jesus came to deliver us from in this earth. A child of God will not lose their eternal life for eating a pork chop, but certainly they will forfeit the quality and quantity of their life for not taking heed to the Father’s diet. Ignoring the wisdom of the Almighty costs us something always. Let us not think that our disobedient choices have no consequences otherwise we will find ourselves prey to the enemy and food for his menu. Understanding the will of YHVH requires that we have a heart pliable to Him so that when He speaks we will hear and obey without delay.
Next week we will start looking at biblical examples of those who walked in their purpose starting with Father Abraham. We will extract what common threads we can see in their life and examine ourselves to see where we may be falling short. Scripture makes it clear that the things that were written were written for us on whom the end of the world have come. There is no greater time than now that we need to know what the will of YHVH is for our life. We cannot afford to ignore the voice of the Almighty, and we must recognize that our lack of obeying can have dire consequences for both us, and those connected to us.
Do you know why Jesus told us to Be as wise as a serpent? Have you ever wondered why he said that? Did you know the invisible things of God can be seen by the things that he has made? (Rom. 1:20) In this book based on Matt. 10:16 Torie zeros in on that phrase and shares from the characteristics of the serpent wisdom that transcends time. Follow her through the scriptures and strategically begin applying the wisdom of the serpent to your life as Jesus instructed.
Submission in our culture is looked at as one of those dirty little words, somehow it gets thrown in with feminism as a curse word of some sort. However, the greatest example of submission was modeled for us at the garden of Gethsemane where our Savior submitted himself to the will of God even unto death. Eve in her deception failed to understand that her decision caused her to be submitted unto the enemy and placed her in direct opposition to the one who made the command. Adam submitted to his wife, which caused him to be in direct rebellion against YHVH.
All throughout scripture we see scriptures that admonishes us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of the Almighty. To submit to God, for husbands to submit to God, wives to submit to husbands, and for the body to submit to one another. There is a divine lesson that is being taught, and that is if we desire to be exalted we must humble ourselves as servants.
In the bible the English word “submit” appears twelve times, but the original Hebrew and Greek words for the English translated word has various meanings and appear more times in scripture under different English words.
H6031 appears 89 times in scripture and was translated as “submit” in Gen. 16:9. The strong’s meaning is:
anah – A primitive root (possibly rather identical with H6030 through the idea of looking down or browbeating); to depress literally or figuratively. If you were to do a word search in Strong’s you will see this strong’s number appear 83 times, but translated as “submit” only once.
The next Hebrew word that is translated as “submit” is Raphas:
Raphas (H7511)- A primitive root; to trample, that is, prostrate: – humble self, submit self.
This word appears 3 times
Kachash (H3584) – A primitive root; to be untrue, in word (to lie, feign, disown) or deed (to disappoint, fail, cringe): – deceive, deny, dissemble, fail, deal falsely, be found liars, (be-) lie, lying, submit selves.
Total KJV occurrences: 22
Now this last one appears to have a completely different definition from the other two. Though it appears 22 times, the consistent definition seems to be for the word “lie”. This last one is the only one that doesn’t seem to fit its use. For the sake of understanding the character of God it is clear we can delete the last definition from our view of the Hebrew word for submit seeing as YHVH is NOT a man that He should lie, nor son of man that he shall repent. (Num. 23:19) That said we know that there is no characteristic of God that can lie or fail. The second one fits perfectly as this was the characteristic we see of our Messiah who humbled himself even unto death, the death of the cross. (Php. 2:8)
Walking in love and in submission is a very easy thing to do when people are moving in accordance to the plans we already have or in accordance to our will. The problem comes in when there is conflict with the person in whom we are submitted to that is in contradiction to what we think should be done or how it should be done. Submission is often thought to be synonymous with obedience, but submission is more of a heart attitude rather than an act. This is difficult for me sometimes because I can often obey what I am told to do, but my heart is not in it. No one else but God and I may know it, but it is the greatest challenge in life that I must submit to the altar of YHVH. As it relates to things like food this is no big deal, my body may want a Big Mac, but rather than obeying or submitting myself to that desire I will eat what I know my body needs. This becomes a problem when it relates to those who God has given as a covering for me. The enemy’s tactic is to cause me to question their intention, but what I have to remember is there is a way that I can have a heart right towards God without obeying what those who are in authority over me request. For instance, Daniel is a great example of this, Daniel didn’t obey the King’s command not to pray to his God, but Daniel didn’t disrespect the authority that was over him. He didn’t boast in what he was doing, nor defiantly rebel, he peacefully disobeyed man and when he was caught he didn’t go off on those who enacted the penalty for that decision. We have to remember that even when we are standing on the right side of the issue we will be faced with punishment when it goes against the demands of an evil government.
Today we see this blatantly taking place as it relates to the President of our country. People have no qualms speaking their minds in direct disrespect towards the authority who was voted into power. One can disagree with the policies of the President without disrespecting or speaking in opposition of him. The fallout of such behavior has led to the open unsportsman like cutting under the belt type tactics that we have witnessed during this political season. Instead of watching possible contenders for President of the U.S. debate the issues that the people face with a clear direct plan and focus on expressing that plan we have seen name calling, and childlike behavior, with lack of substance that will benefit the people. Yet, come January we as a nation will find ourselves under the authority of one of them, and if I hadn’t learned the test in my home on how to continue walking in what Yah has told me to do, even when those who around me don’t understand, who are in authority over me then how will I deal with it when the power that governs me on a national level impact me? These are things to consider, however, the examples in scripture reveal that it is always in order to submit to authority, and always in order to obey God, and when the two are not at peace with one another the response must be it is better to obey God rather than man, and be prepared for the persecution that may come as a result of your stand.
Thought the natural inclination of the flesh when it comes to impending or even potential pain is to flee, there is no scripture that promotes that sort of behavior. We are to remain humble before authority even if it is wicked authority, but with full obedience and unwavering allegiance to the King of Glory, and if that ends in stoning like Stephen, or stripes like Paul, or being cast into lion’s dens and flaming furnaces so be it. Obedience without question to YHVH with submission without waiver to the authority He has put in place. For the heart of the king is in His hands and He can turn it withersoever he wills. (Prov. 21:1)
Lack of submission to appropriate authority reveals weaknesses in our faith in Christ, and reflect the areas in our lives where we have failed to die to our own will. Forsaking all for the kingdom of YHVH requires that we lay aside our way of thinking and submit ourselves to His way of thinking. This is why we are to pray without cease, it is in praying without ceasing that we learn the lessons of yielding to His Spirit. I had a love test this week that I know I failed, in my own hurt and disappointment I chose to allow my flesh to be satisfied with walking beneath the level of love that the Father has put in me. When we see such blatant ugliness and hateful acts purposefully poised against us the natural response is to retaliate. As I stated earlier it is easy to submit to those who submit to you, to love those who love you, to obey those who obey you. The test of if YHVH is in you is how do you respond to those who do the opposite? To those who despitefully use you, speak evil against you, and take under the table pop shots against you. Do you share the love of God with them or do you find yourselves lead by the same level of evil that they poise against you? Know in advance that for those types of people your love may continue to be returned with hatred, your service may yield no return from them, but your obedience to Christ in the face of such treatment will yield much reward in the kingdom of Heaven. So sons and daughters remember in whose character you walk, and in whose authority you are under. Submit to those who are in authority and walk humbly before your God.
As detailed as God was in creating the earth we now live in and enjoy, but not just the earth, but the heavens also, we can’t help but appreciate the priority of Christ in scripture. As pronounced as his equality, and clear as his distinction, there is a supreme order to everything that He does. Like the numbers 1, 2, 3, while all of them are equally numbers, they are distinct in order and value, but when counting 1 is always going to be first. This doesn’t diminish the second number, just means first things first. While every piece we put in place holds true it doesn’t negate the fact that there is a priority amongst equals. The Heaven’s and the Earth didn’t just come into existence by some cosmic mysterious bang, but rather by the will of the Father who willed the very beginning and whose Spirit moved over the face of the deep, spoke the words “Let there be…” A divine order of priority was set in motion at that very moment and that order is never disrupted, and because of that unity exist, equality exist, distinct functions of the Godhead exist, and understanding the priority makes it possible.
Consider the following analogy, boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy ignores the priority of marriage. Boy engages in sex, girl gets pregnant. Boy discovers characteristics about the girl he no longer deem desirable. Girl discovers flaws that made her once prince charming appear to be a toad. Boy moves on, girl left unwed with a child to support alone. This is a reoccurring story we see too often that plays itself out over and over again in the lives of families all across America. A unity bonding two together, almost making them inseparable, equal in their love and respect for one another and appreciated for their distinctive role in the relationship, neglect order and because they didn’t prioritize commitment before intimacy not just two but three lives are devastated as a result. Appreciating priority in your life will cause you not to put something that is to be done at a certain time out of the order it belongs in.
Imagine what would have happened if God created mankind before he created food for man to eat? Before he created even an earth for his feet to rest? As important as mankind is in the creation of God, mankind couldn’t be the priority in the order in which God placed things. Thus He made sure everything was done decently and in order so that Adam and Eve would have everything they needed that they themselves couldn’t provide to accomplish their mission. The disruption of that order is the cause of the fall of mankind. As long as Adam kept the instructions of the Almighty everything would have been kept in proper balance. However, at the point that he made the decision to prioritize the desires of his wife above the instructions of His Creator, he sealed the fate of humanity.
Negating the priority of the Almighty put’s lives in jeopardy. If humanity would have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying then husbands and wives could celebrate being on the same page. Fathers and Mothers could enjoy more freely the experience of shaping young minds to the glory of Christ. The spouse or parent who hears from God and obeys becomes the persecuted, or cause of division to the spouse or parent who doesn’t hear. Understanding priority helps keep everything in balance because then we are moving in harmony with the Lord, like an orchestra on key. No one likes the sound of musical instruments out of key.
How can we know if we are properly prioritizing our lives? Let’s consider David, before He would go to war he would ask YHVH if it was okay.
Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
When what is written doesn’t clearly provide instructions on how to proceed in a given situation, then what? Consider Moses
Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah. And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons. Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father. And Moses brought their cause before the LORD. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,…
Here we see there can exist circumstances where what is written doesn’t provide direction for a situation. This example is in scripture to remind us that the approach we need to have is to bring our cause before YHVH, and YHVH will speak. Priority in God dictates that when we don’t know what move we should make that we are to inquire of the Lord for direction. Failure to do that can cause us to do a good thing at the wrong time, making it the wrong thing.
Priority in Messiah suggests that if we find ourselves lost or at a stopping point that we remember the order established in the beginning. Before God speaks, and before he moved over anything he established time. This means we must make sure we have adequately prepared our ground before we make our move to act, or our mouths to speak. To do either of them without thinking and planning first can lead to devastation. Scripture teaches us that God had a plan for the ‘if’s’ that could occur. When? Not when they occurred, but before they occurred.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
God already having foreknowledge of everything that will happen and confirming that with us by the prophetic nature of His word let’s us know that God works his plan, do we? Do we have a plan for when things don’t go the way we want them to? Do we have the go ahead from the Almighty to proceed with the things that are in our heart?
Let us remember David had a heart to build a place for the Lord, but having the heart to do something wasn’t enough for him to proceed with his plans. There was a reason God delayed him. This is why it is important to know that just because we have something in our hearts to do for the Lord, doesn’t mean He always gives us authorization to do it. We mustn’t ever forget to seek the Lord for his approval before we proceed. We can also learn from this encounter that the Lord will not allow us to do something that is against his will without giving us fair warning. (2 Sam. 7)
Understanding the priority of God provides for us to have confidence and success in whatever it is we do. It may not mean you will receive worldly success, but you will have the confidence of knowing that you are walking with the Lord even if you must walk with Him alone.

Walking in the character of YHVH means we are a unified one, with three parts of our one being, that are equally important and now we learn created with distinction. Even amongst equals there is a first, and we know that first is YHVH, the Father. The will supercedes the words we speak or the actions we take. The will is the driving force behind us, the motivation in what we do, which is why God takes it straight to the gusto with us bypassing the superficial things that mankind looks at and looks directly at the heart. It is only at the heart of the matter do you get the truth of the matter.
In our world we have magnified equality to the point that we want to completely remove the importance of distinction. It is distinction that is being attacked in the feminist movement. The feminist movement proves that Eve still suffers from the same area of deception that she suffered from in the beginning. To trust YHVH, who said that when He created us He did so in His image and likeness. What did the serpent do? He caused her to doubt God, and question her identity.
(Gen 1:27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
(Gen 3:5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
(Gen 2:17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
So let’s just consider the course of events, God said we were created in his image and likeness. What does the serpent convince her? That only if she eats from this tree God forbid them to eat from shall she be as god. The next point God said if you eat from this tree ye shall surely die, what does the serpent convince her? Ye shall not surely die. What is the point I am making? The enemy is very successful for helping us answer the wrong questions and consider the wrong things. For instance the question we should have been thinking is why do we want to know evil? How is eating something going to give us what we already have? So what are we doing today? We are forcefully fighting for the equal right to fight in wars, yet we don’t see men fighting for the right to carry a baby for 9 months or breastfeed one? The enemy has us fighting the wrong battle because he has successfully caused us to ask the wrong questions. Which leads to us being at war with the distinction God created within us.
Our distinction when celebrated makes us a very pivotal part of fighting any war. Every war requires healthy soldiers. We are the suppliers of those soldiers. We are the necessary part of the development process for men to learn and develop courage. He gains confidence from the security he gets from his mother’s voice. Her nourishment returns in him a courage that for her he will fight to protect. Yet, this is only half of who he is, the distinctive role of the Father is where he begins to understand his purpose. Having confidence with no aim is fruitless. While mom helps him understand why and how, it is dad who helps him know what to do and when. Together their distinction makes for an equipping team that when appreciated and respected will help a son or daughter confidently walk out their role in life. You never send a woman to do a man’s job, and a man cannot do a woman’s job. If we can learn to equally appreciate and respect our distinction then working together we can fulfill our God given purpose. It is futile for us to expect that we can achieve peace among nations when we aren’t even at peace among ourselves. Just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should. In this battle that is raging against the sexes and in our zeal to prove to men that we can do their job we don’t ask ourselves what’s the end to erasing the distinction? The end is the perverted product we see before us, where men want to be women and women want to be men. Where people are offended by being recognized as a specific gender. Children being required to produce their own spiritual and physical nourishment. While we are on a quest to fulfill missions we weren’t called to our children are being sacrificed to the wolves. Confused about who they are and about who they are supposed to be.
Scripture reveals distinctions, distinctions among women and men, and between the Father and the son, and the roles we serve in the family, community, government, and world. He also gives us examples of those who forfeited the victory for not appreciating it. (Jdgs 4:9) Those of us familiar with the one woman who was a judge in scripture. When she does that which was the responsibility of the King in leadership she makes it clear that her involvement would come at a personal blow to him. Because just as a woman takes on the identity of her husband, in a war a victory is given in the name of the one who conquers. Deborah understood what this meant and though she accepted the position that was being given to her, she didn’t grasp for it. YHVH can use man or woman to achieve His goal, as we have seen He can use a donkey too, none of God’s creation is off limits as it relates to him fulfilling His will, but it does come at a personal loss to the one to whom the responsibility was given.
There is a distinction in God, there is a distinction in God’s creation, a people who don’t understand that will inevitably self destruct. So what can we do? Women, celebrate who you were created to be in Christ. Society doesn’t have to value you for you to be valuable. A society that doesn’t value wisdom, will soon experience the error of that decision. Because to oppose wisdom leads to folly as proverbs reveal. Indeed we are valuable, we are compared to wisdom, when proverbs speaks of wisdom it speaks of her and she. Our boys learn to be men, as mom’s appreciate being women. As we become comfortable in being who we are they learn to be comfortable in being who they are, and as we do so we will see them rise to the occasion of being the warriors, protectors, providers, and the conquerors they are destined to become.
Getting closer to the finish line on this book. Too many of us are losing wars against the enemy of our soul because we don’t understand the war that is being waged. We don’t understand the strategy that he is using to fight us. As in this weeks teaching we see that the serpent was more “subtil” than any beast of the field. (Gen. 3:1) Many wars in home isn’t sparked by blows to the fist, that is the reaction. It starts with what thoughts we keep. Notice, I didn’t say what thoughts you think, but the ones you keep. Adam and Eve was given every tool they needed to cast down the thought the enemy gave. But they didn’t. Many of us are losing the war today for the same reason. In this book you will learn how to use the wisdom of the serpent in achieving victory in your life. You will be able to defeat the enemy with his own artillery, and learn how to apply the wisdom of the word of God in the practical way he presents it. We can understand the invisible things of God by the things which he has made. (Rom. 1:20) It’s time we take him at his word.
One of the most attractive things to see is a man in uniform. Personally, I have come to realize that it’s not the uniform that I am attracted to, but the union that is attractive. The ability for all of them to come together as One, being many. Such a refreshing contrast from the division we see in the body of Christ today. Years ago I wrote an article called the Original WWW. Many of us are familiar with the term trinity. It is a word we use to explain how our God being one is still plural, yet one. As I shared with you in the above analogy this is what Yahushah was attempting to explain to His disciples concerning God. He and His father are One. If you have seen him, then you have seen the Father. (John 10:30; John 14:9-10) What is he saying exactly? He is saying that since he only does that which please the Father just as those who do the will of His father are the same as his mother, brother, and sister that they are in perfect harmony. (Matt. 12:50) As members of a band, as an orchestra in symphony, as soldiers in the service and yet like those examples every member being one band or one orchestra, or one army have different instruments they play or different positions they hold, but to complete one unified purpose. If we understand the role of each then we not only understand the triune nature of God, but also our role as husbands, wives, children, or as men and women.
Which is where the www comes in understanding that each member in God has a specific function. The Father wills it, the Son words it, and the Holy Spirit does the work. You will find this pattern consistently through scripture. The Father doesn’t do the will of the Son, the Holy Spirit doesn’t do the speaking, but the working. In fact it wasn’t until the Holy Spirit descended upon the Messiah that he began to do the miracles he did. The water into wine, the healings, the multiplication of loaves and the raising of the dead, all of these things take place after the baptism and the Holy Spirit descending upon him.
Why is this important to you? Families don’t function the way they should because we fail to reflect the image of the one who we belong to. We want the Father to do the will of the son, the mother to be the word of the son, and the Holy Spirit to have limited movement or range because it makes us uncomfortable when we can’t control the work He is called to do in our lives. A lack of order in the natural creates a lack of understanding of the Spiritual. Yahushah followed His father’s script and if we are going to be successful and walk in the plurality that Yahushah describes we have to do what he did, follow the script. He couldn’t marry someone because that was not in the script for him. He did what was in the script, and whatever we are doing if we are saying it is for God, we need to make sure that it is in the script for us. Operating outside of the script, and outside of His spirit no matter how good it sounds or looks can lead you outside the will of the Almighty. That is not a place you want to be found when it is all said and done. Thus, understanding the plurality of God as described in Genesis when Elohim said “let us make man…” (Gen. 1:26) has to do with God being a unified one, is this what we are endeavoring to do in our homes and our lives? Can a mother do things a father can do, this is not the question we ought to be asking, the question is should she? I can tell you no father can do what a mother can do, nor should he be expected to. If we make it our business to do what a man can do who will fulfill our role? Who will be the voice of femininity? If what we did had no value then why would God have created us? He could have stopped with Adam. Eve was God’s decision, and she was created for Adam’s good. The lack of appreciation for the work of the wife, and mother has lead to increase in auto-immune diseases, the increase in obesity, the increase of children being insecure in who they are and who they were intended to become because of the detours our absence creates. It opens the home to rape, incest, abuse, confusion, plain and simple the enemy. There are multiple ways the enemy can bind the strong man, but the bottom line is once you take him out the house the devil can do his work. A woman having to do the job of a man because a man is absent leads to unnecessary stress on both the parent and the child. Are there exceptions, yes, but exceptions are not the rule. In scripture we see the exceptions, Deborah was an exception, but you can count on one hand how many exceptions there were. But when the exception becomes the rule you create a paradox in society that offsets the balance and creates an atmosphere of chaos. I think we can all agree that we see the chaos in our midst. Let us however, endeavor to be that unified one speaking the same as our Father, and having the same mind, because we are fulfilling the same will, that is, the will of our Father.
I did a series on Matt 10:16 focusing on the characteristics of a serpent that we as believers should apply to our lives. Isn’t it interesting God didn’t say be ye as wise as Solomon, yet though he was given wisdom unlike any other man. Think about it, we are in the situation as humans that we are in because a serpent was able to deceive Eve. We need to tap into the wisdom of a serpent from a heavenly perspective, so that we would be able to defeat the enemy of our lives with the wisdom that God has made available in the earth. I am making it available as an e-book. This e-book will show you:
The e-book is currently in pre-production, but you can fill out the form below to let me know that you are interested in reserving a copy. The cost will be $5.00. I am making e-books to save on cost of printing. If you would prefer a hard copy please let me know as you submit me your contact information, if enough people are interested in a hard copy I will provide print on demand, but the cost will more than likely be more than $5.00.
A Name Correction
Before we go into the meat and potatoes of our bible study this week, I would like to make note of something the observant reader may have noticed. The name correction in the series. We are constantly being tweaked in our walk with the Lord and it is important that as we consider what He says and what He doesn’t say that we pay close attention to the words that He uses and say likewise. The basis of this series is on Ephesians 5:17 which states “understanding what the will of YHVH is”. While to many there is a subtle distinction between the two I would like to point out the sharp contrast in their meaning.
Knowledge is the beginning of wisdom, but understanding is wisdom’s closest cousin.
Wisdom is the principle thing, but in all thy getting, we are instructed to get an understanding. (Prov. 4:7)
In that verse the word knowledge doesn’t appear, why? I believe it is because knowledge is like the base or foundation of wisdom, but understanding is what builds the walls which takes us to the roof which in this analogy would be wisdom. Wisdom covers a house while knowledge keeps it. Knowledge is the alphabets, understanding are the words, and wisdom is the action, that is produced when you get the other two.
Knowledge doesn’t motivate you to action, but understanding does.
There are people who know scripture backwards and forwards, but still have no power to live a holy life. How is this possible? The same way you can teach a child to call words but they still have no understanding of the words that they called. Understanding helps you understand the mess in your life, and in this context from a Godly perspective. It is what helps you hang on for dear life when the storms come to blow you away, understanding that God has you. Understanding gives you perspective and with perspective you can weather the storms that occur without jumping ship. Those with knowledge don’t ask “the what” question. Those with understanding don’t ask “the why” question, and those with wisdom don’t ask “how”. It is lack of understanding why that prevents many of us from acting on the plan of God for our lives. Stick with me in this series and that is exactly what you will get, the answer to that question.

Just Follow The Script
In a play everyone knows all the lines but they are intimately familiar with their own. Messiah made it clear that he was following the script the Father had already written concerning Him. He didn’t ad lib or use creative license.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. Luk 4:21
For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. Joh 20:9
These are only two out of many scriptures that reveal that he was following a script, and past the gospels you will find that those who followed him were following the same script, just a different role.
This brings me to why it is important that though we are one, we must understand our divine call in God’s plan. Rather than allowing our differences to divide us, we should allow the common script we follow to unite us. God created us different and has given us different roles for his purpose. If we appreciate that then we won’t have the Peter syndrome. Worrying about what will happen to John rather than following the script that was laid out for him. (John 21:20-22) John had a different role in the same script, as do we. Like in television today when a casting call goes out for a specific part a certain look is required for that role. If the part is looking for a slim, white woman with blond hair then that is what the role calls for, if it is looking for a tall, dark and handsome man then that is what it is looking for. The differences that divide us are differences that were created by Elohim, in which we have no right to judge those things. The only thing that should divide us are those differences that man has made that stands in opposition to God’s word and His Spirit.
Despite the belief that we all are God’s children scripture makes it clear that this is not true. (1 Jn 3:10) We are all God’s creation, but identification with Christ is based on being born into his family, through the unified experience that all believers have. The born again experience which brings us into a unified life in Messiah. We are all apart of the script rather we are for or against him, as much as Judas was. It’s just that we get a different role once we are born into the kingdom.
Our oneness in Christ can make room for our differences in life.
It takes many different spices to create a tasty dish, and the absence of any of them changes its flavor. Our unity is necessary, our uniformity is not. If we change our expectation we can change the outcome. I shouldn’t expect you to be me and I shouldn’t be expected to be you. Like Christ I should embrace the will of God, the inheritance He has given me and not covet that which belongs to another. In Christ we inherit a rich heritage, our coat of many colors are unified under the same blood that He shed for us, and if we do the will of His Father then we are his brother, his sister, and even his mother. (Matt. 12:50) Our distinctive roles are based on the same unified plan, let’s just walk that out.
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. Gen 11:6-7
Notice in this verse that the power came in them speaking the same language, not looking the same way. We don’t need to make uniformity the brass ring we grasp for, or the focus of our fellowship. Which is why confounding their language was the means of dispersion. We see this in reverse in the book of acts.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
What did that power look like?
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. Act 2:4-6
We are called to oneness in every relationship we have within the body of Christ. We should speak the same and think the same as the one we are following, Christ. Just as we are instructed to have the mind of Christ, and since we know Christ’s mind wasn’t divided neither should a believer’s mind be divided.
Even in marriage we are called into unity, thus the proper picture of this oneness is reflected when a wife takes the last name of her husband. Hyphenated names reflect the distinction between the two and shows division, whereas the wife assuming the identity of the husband is a reflection of us as believers assuming the identity of our bridegroom, Christ.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. Eph 5:22-31
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Rom 12:5
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1Co 8:6
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:28
All these scriptures reflect the same one truth that we are one body in Christ, our distinctions don’t determine our position nor give us an extra edge. We are seen as His body as a collective whole and thus when one hurts the body hurts, when one rejoices the body rejoices because what happens to a member effects the membership altogether. The kingdom of God doesn’t operate like an episode of Survivor, we operate like an ant. Each one of us have a part to play which effects the well-being of the colony.
Food For Thought
Next week we will look at the Plurality of God. He is a unified one, yet he has three dimensions to His presence. We will get a better understanding of the term “trinity” and how like Him we are created in His image and likeness.
Did you miss the last series, Be Ye Therefore Wise As Serpents? Well, don’t fret if you are enjoying this series you will want to get the other one. I am working on an e-book now that can be used for small bible groups and is designed to be application oriented. This simple and thought provoking series will challenge you in your study and in how you walk to harness the wisdom of the serpent who was able to through subtlety strip us of the inheritance we received from YHVH in the garden of Eden. If you would be interested in this series please fill out the form below. It is currently in pre-production and the projected cost will be $5.00.
