How To Understand the Will of YHVH: The Plurality of YHVH – A Unified One

One of the most attractive things to see is a man in uniform. Personally, I have come to realize that it’s not the uniform that I am attracted to, but the union that is attractive. The ability for all of them to come together as One, being many. Such a refreshing contrast from the division we see in the body of Christ today. Years ago I wrote an article called the Original WWW.  Many of us are familiar with the term trinity. It is a word we use to explain how our God being one is still plural, yet one. As I shared with you in the above analogy this is what Yahushah was attempting to explain to His disciples concerning God. He and His father are One. If you have seen him, then you have seen the Father. (John 10:30; John 14:9-10) What is he saying exactly? He is saying that since he only does that which please the Father just as those who do the will of His father are the same as his mother, brother, and sister that they are in perfect harmony. (Matt. 12:50) As members of a band, as an orchestra in symphony, as soldiers in the service and yet like those examples every member being one band or one orchestra, or one army have different instruments they play or different positions they hold, but to complete one unified purpose. If we understand the role of each then we not only understand the triune nature of God, but also our role as husbands, wives, children, or as men and women.

Which is where the www comes in understanding that each member in God has a specific function. The Father wills it, the Son words it, and the Holy Spirit does the work. You will find this pattern consistently through scripture. The Father doesn’t do the will of the Son, the Holy Spirit doesn’t do the speaking, but the working. In fact it wasn’t until the Holy Spirit descended upon the Messiah that he began to do the miracles he did. The water into wine, the healings, the multiplication of loaves and the raising of the dead, all of these things take place after the baptism and the Holy Spirit descending upon him.


Why is this important to you? Families don’t function the way they should because we fail to reflect the image of the one who we belong to. We want the Father to do the will of the son, the mother to be the word of the son, and the Holy Spirit to have limited movement or range because it makes us uncomfortable when we can’t control the work He is called to do in our lives. A lack of order in the natural creates a lack of understanding of the Spiritual. Yahushah followed His father’s script and if we are going to be successful and walk in the plurality that Yahushah describes we have to do what he did, follow the script. He couldn’t marry someone because that was not in the script for him. He did what was in the script, and whatever we are doing if we are saying it is for God, we need to make sure that it is in the script for us. Operating outside of the script, and outside of His spirit no matter how good it sounds or looks can lead you outside the will of the Almighty. That is not a place you want to be found when it is all said and done.  Thus, understanding the plurality of God as described in Genesis when Elohim said “let us make man…” (Gen. 1:26) has to do with God being a unified one, is this what we are endeavoring to do in our homes and our lives? Can a mother do things a father can do, this is not the question we ought to be asking, the question is should she? I can tell you no father can do what a mother can do, nor should he be expected to. If we make it our business to do what a man can do who will fulfill our role? Who will be the voice of femininity? If what we did had no value then why would God have created us? He could have stopped with Adam. Eve was God’s decision, and she was created for Adam’s good. The lack of appreciation for the work of the wife, and mother has lead to increase in auto-immune diseases, the increase in obesity, the increase of children being insecure in who they are and who they were intended to become because of the detours our absence creates.   It opens the home to rape, incest, abuse, confusion, plain and simple the enemy. There are multiple ways the enemy can bind the strong man, but the bottom line is once you take him out the house the devil can do his work. A woman having to do the job of a man because a man is absent leads to unnecessary stress on both the parent and the child. Are there exceptions, yes, but exceptions are not the rule. In scripture we see the exceptions, Deborah was an exception, but you can count on one hand how many exceptions there were. But when the exception becomes the rule you create a paradox in society that offsets the balance and creates an atmosphere of chaos. I think we can all agree that we see the chaos in our midst. Let us however, endeavor to be that unified one speaking the same as our Father, and having the same mind, because we are fulfilling the same will, that is, the will of our Father.

I did a series on Matt 10:16 focusing on the characteristics of a serpent that we as believers should apply to our lives.  Isn’t it interesting God didn’t say be ye as wise as Solomon, yet though he was given wisdom unlike any other man.  Think about it, we are in the situation as humans that we are in because a serpent was able to deceive Eve.  We need to tap into the wisdom of a serpent from a heavenly perspective, so that we would be able to defeat the enemy of our lives with the wisdom that God has made available in the earth.  I am making it available as an e-book. How To Understand The Will of YHVH For Your Life: Part II Oneness

A Name Correction

Before we go into the meat and potatoes of our bible study this week, I would like to make note of something the observant reader may have noticed. The name correction in the series.   We are constantly being tweaked in our walk with the Lord and it is important that as we consider what He says and what He doesn’t say that we pay close attention to the words that He uses and say likewise. The basis of this series is on Ephesians 5:17 which states “understanding what the will of YHVH is”. While to many there is a subtle distinction between the two I would like to point out the sharp contrast in their meaning.

Knowledge is the beginning of wisdom, but understanding is wisdom’s closest cousin.

Wisdom is the principle thing, but in all thy getting, we are instructed to get an understanding. (Prov. 4:7)

In that verse the word knowledge doesn’t appear, why? I believe it is because knowledge is like the base or foundation of wisdom, but understanding is what builds the walls which takes us to the roof which in this analogy would be wisdom.   Wisdom covers a house while knowledge keeps it.  Knowledge is the alphabets, understanding are the words, and wisdom is the action, that is produced when you get the other two.

Knowledge doesn’t motivate you to action, but understanding does.

There are people who know scripture backwards and forwards, but still have no power to live a holy life. How is this possible? The same way you can teach a child to call words but they still have no understanding of the words that they called. Understanding helps you understand the mess in your life, and in this context from a Godly perspective. It is what helps you hang on for dear life when the storms come to blow you away, understanding that God has you. Understanding gives you perspective and with perspective you can weather the storms that occur without jumping ship. Those with knowledge don’t ask “the what” question. Those with understanding don’t ask “the why” question, and those with wisdom don’t ask “how”.  It is lack of understanding why that prevents many of us from acting on the plan of God for our lives. Stick with me in this series and that is exactly what you will get, the answer to that question.

Just Follow The Script

In a play everyone knows all the lines but they are intimately familiar with their own. Messiah made it clear that he was following the script the Father had already written concerning Him. He didn’t ad lib or use creative license.

And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. Luk 4:21

For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. Joh 20:9

These are only two out of many scriptures that reveal that he was following a script, and past the gospels you will find that those who followed him were following the same script, just a different role.

This brings me to why it is important that though we are one, we must understand our divine call in God’s plan. Rather than allowing our differences to divide us, we should allow the common script we follow to unite us. God created us different and has given us different roles for his purpose. If we appreciate that then we won’t have the Peter syndrome. Worrying about what will happen to John rather than following the script that was laid out for him. (John 21:20-22) John had a different role in the same script, as do we. Like in television today when a casting call goes out for a specific part a certain look is required for that role. If the part is looking for a slim, white woman with blond hair then that is what the role calls for, if it is looking for a tall, dark and handsome man then that is what it is looking for. The differences that divide us are differences that were created by Elohim, in which we have no right to judge those things. The only thing that should divide us are those differences that man has made that stands in opposition to God’s word and His Spirit.

Despite the belief that we all are God’s children scripture makes it clear that this is not true. (1 Jn 3:10) We are all God’s creation, but identification with Christ is based on being born into his family, through the unified experience that all believers have. The born again experience which brings us into a unified life in Messiah. We are all apart of the script rather we are for or against him, as much as Judas was. It’s just that we get a different role once we are born into the kingdom.

Our oneness in Christ can make room for our differences in life.

It takes many different spices to create a tasty dish, and the absence of any of them changes its flavor. Our unity is necessary, our uniformity is not. If we change our expectation we can change the outcome. I shouldn’t expect you to be me and I shouldn’t be expected to be you. Like Christ I should embrace the will of God, the inheritance He has given me and not covet that which belongs to another. In Christ we inherit a rich heritage, our coat of many colors are unified under the same blood that He shed for us, and if we do the will of His Father then we are his brother, his sister, and even his mother. (Matt. 12:50) Our distinctive roles are based on the same unified plan, let’s just walk that out.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. Gen 11:6-7 

Notice in this verse that the power came in them speaking the same language, not looking the same way. We don’t need to make uniformity the brass ring we grasp for, or the focus of our fellowship. Which is why confounding their language was the means of dispersion. We see this in reverse in the book of acts.

Act 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

What did that power look like?

 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. Act 2:4-6


We are called to oneness in every relationship we have within the body of Christ. We should speak the same and think the same as the one we are following, Christ. Just as we are instructed to have the mind of Christ, and since we know Christ’s mind wasn’t divided neither should a believer’s mind be divided.

Even in marriage we are called into unity, thus the proper picture of this oneness is reflected when a wife takes the last name of her husband. Hyphenated names reflect the distinction between the two and shows division, whereas the wife assuming the identity of the husband is a reflection of us as believers assuming the identity of our bridegroom, Christ.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. Eph 5:22-31 

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Rom 12:5

But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1Co 8:6

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:28

All these scriptures reflect the same one truth that we are one body in Christ, our distinctions don’t determine our position nor give us an extra edge.  We are seen as His body as a collective whole and thus when one hurts the body hurts, when one rejoices the body rejoices because what happens to a member effects the membership altogether.  The kingdom of God doesn’t operate like an episode of Survivor, we operate like an ant.  Each one of us have a part to play which effects the well-being of the colony.

Food For Thought

  • Are you walking in the oneness of Christ?
  • Are the things that divide you based on his word or your preference?
  • Are you judging according to the appearance or righteous judgment when analyzing your brothers and sisters in the Lord?
  • Are you endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace?
  • In your prayers make sure that you are daily praying for understanding of the will of Yah for your life. Commit to do nothing different without His instruction. Meaning submit your plans to YHVH, and don’t move forward until you have clarity of His will in the situation.

Next week we will look at the Plurality of God.  He is a unified one, yet he has three dimensions to His presence.  We will get a better understanding of the term “trinity” and how like Him we are created in His image and likeness.

Below is a website that you can go to and purchase this devotional or any other to begin starting your own collection of devotionals.  Don’t just buy one, because then you only have seed for the sower, but buy more than one to share with friends and loved ones.  Don’t just share the devotional, share the principles you are learning here with them so that they can make the time they need to have the refreshing necessary with the Lord for their day.  Remember sowing the word of God is one sure way you will get back a return on your investment.  There are three things I highly recommend a devotion to offer.

  1. Key bible verses that connect to the topic.  What is the point of a devotion if you can’t see how what they are sharing connects to the subject they are sharing.  This is important so that you can see the practical application to your life.
  2. Relevant to your life.  What a mother would need is not necessarily what a single career woman would need.  So for that cause make sure that whatever devotional you choose it will hit home where you are.  This should also apply as it relates to those you share it with.  Remember this devotional is for your personal time not your family gathering so it should fuel you for your day.  Getting a devotional for family gatherings is not a bad idea, but I personally would suggest as a family you pray and seek the Lord through His word as to what type of study you should do.  Remember two or three gathered in His name someone is sure to get direction concerning where He is leading you.
  3. Make sure it gives you questions to ponder.  This is important you start your day with God, but the conversation never ends.  Part of growing in the Lord requires that you develop an ask and hear relationship.  As we ask God for answers, he hears and provides them for us.  Most of us never get to having our own bible study with the Lord because we have no questions to jump start our quest.  Thanks to the computer apps and software resources available it is so easy to do word and phrase studies.  Which means we can quickly find answers to our biblical questions.  The assistance of other biblical resources such as Strong’s dictionary and concordance, BDB, AHLB, and more we are now able to get to the original text and get even greater understanding. It will be these questions that you pursue Yah for the answers for that will help you grow in your relationship with God and with others.

Are You Being Called Home or Are You Being Sent?

Being called home is a releasing of consent on behalf of the called to choose to go somewhere they consider to be a place of comfort, love and joy. Being sent home is a forceful hand of rebuke to a place where scolding is about to occur. The writer Paul reveals a life of one who is being called home. One who is not being taken by surprise like a thief in the night to a place that is foreign to him, or that he is running from, but instead is being given a loving release into the hands of a caring Father who has said my son your work is finished and done well, now enter into your reward. He is not kicking or screaming at the thought of returning, but looking forward to it as one does a vacation they prepared for in advance.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”. (2Ti 4:6-8)


“And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.” (Act 21:11-14)


Paul speaks as a man ready to go home, to endure whatever momentary affliction necessary to get there. His hope and desires were not wrapped up in what this world could offer. Having suffered at the hands of preaching the Gospel to the lost, and even making lasting beautiful relationships with the children of the Most High, yet his mission was bigger than this earth could contain. He didn’t see himself as one who belonged to this world, but one who belonged to the Lord. Like Paul we have to make a decision are we going to be attached to this life and all that it entails or attached to Christ? Will we live to make a difference for the kingdom of God or a dollar for the advancement of this world?

We don’t face an economic crisis, or a security breach, we face a moral crisis, and a breach of conscience. -Torie McLaughlin

How else can one figure Paul saying, to live is Christ and to die is gain? Such an expression in the minds of psychologists would lead them to wonder if he was suicidal because of his current state. The pleasures of living had somehow cease and thus his mission enveloped his whole reason for living, to such a degree that death was an invitation to an upgraded benefits package.   By no means do I believe Paul was suicidal, I believe Paul was focused and non distracted by the temporary pleasures of this life. He was singularly focused and understood that his life’s purpose was greater than his personal pleasures. Those things which in our minds make life in this mortal body more precious to us then life in our glorified bodies with the Lord.

We must have a change of perspective. A fresh look through the lens of a disciple who disciplines himself to living for Christ regardless of his personal feelings or condition. Is Christ only worth serving when all is well in our world?  Have we relegated the living God to that of a Genie who grants wishes? Is our serving Him only done when things are going our way? I thank God that his unconditional love towards us was such that while we were yet sinners, not thinking about a Savior, He chose to die for us, the ungodly that we might have an opportunity to be restored to Him. When our frame of mind was to stone him, his was to forgive our ignorance. Life presents opportunities for us to really see where our faith lies. Sickness, disappointments, set backs, and set ups are put in place so that we can see whether or not we are Peter before Christ died or Peter after the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Are we depending or leaning on our understanding and judging God based on our viewpoint or are we committed to Him even when we don’t understand what He is doing in our lives?

I’d like to say my faith is always where it ought to be in regards to this, but like Paul I have those moments where my flesh is in control and as he stated in Romans 7:19 “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” There are very personal areas in my life where my faith is being challenged, and nothing in the natural says that I should trust that things are working out for my good, yet in the midst of it, I know God is maturing me, and nothing that hasn’t been weathered after conditioning can truly be tested or made tough for durability. I am believing every wrinkle has a purpose and I am being seasoned for a greater glory ahead. If you too are being challenged just continue to hold on Yah is preparing you for a greater glory.

Finally, this is the question I ask myself, are the decisions I am making preparing me to be called home or sent home? Like Paul do I bear in my body the marks of Jesus Christ or the marks of my own wayward decisions? (Gal. 6:17) Will I allow Christ to be magnified in my body, whether it be life or death? (Php. 1:20) Am I keeping my body under subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away? (1 Cor. 9:27) By all means I want to be called home when my time comes, but by no means do I want to be sent home. I am now sent to the nations through the tongue of my pen as a ready writer and trust me what I say to you convicts me too. (Psa. 45:1) I have by no means arrived, but I strive towards the mark of the High Calling of Messiah Yahushah and it is my duty as my brothers keeper to encourage you to do the same. (Php. 3:14) Shalom my readers and good night.

A Chosen Identity

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. (Heb 11:24-26) I thought of this scripture today because I think of how amazing it is that in spite of growing antisemitism, we as Believers long to discover the Hebrew connection that binds us biologically to Messiah.  I have witnessed hope restored to a mistreated people because of such severe hardships that either they themselves or their ancestors had to endure receive such encouragement in the discovery of who they are in Messiah. Everyone in this life has endured something, that is one certainty you can expect to occur at some point if you just keep living. However, I am not talking about the average issues that we face, I am talking about people who have had to endure extreme hardship and targeted and strategic persecution worldwide. Returning back to the Hebraic roots of our faith has been a journey of discovering my true identity in Christ, and the more I learn of him the less of the things that this life has to offer do I desire to have. At some point we should desire the identity of Christ more than the identity of Egypt (the World). There are three ways we choose the identity of the world over the identity of the Creator.

  1. We seek the acceptance of the world (James 4:4)
  2. We seek the wealth of the world (Luke 12:22-31; 1 Tim. 6:10)
  3. We seek the wisdom of the world (1 Cor. 1:27; Col. 2:8)

Moses clearly denied himself of all three when he chose to leave all he learned and possessed in Egypt and headed to the hills towards God. Often we see in scripture the way up as it relates to God appears to be down as it relates to the world. As we journey through Exodus, it would be a great time to really press in to the Father to see what area he is calling us to exit so that we can enter into His promises for us.

There’s Just Something About That Name YHWH

In this Shabbat episode I am looking at the actual Name of God, which appears often, but in our bible it is disguised behind the title which describes who He is. This title you have seen many times translated as LORD. Now to understand the history of why the name of God which was so important to be known that an entire book was named after it, became disguised and so easily unknown by many of those who follow Him requires a little bit of digging into. In the book of Exodus which in Hebrew is called (Shemoth) literally means character or name. Just at first glance the name should be familiar to our Genesis readers. The reason why is because we will find that one of Noah’s sons bears the name Shem which has the same meaning. Without knowing the Hebrew meaning of the book of Exodus and taking it only by its English rendering we would think the focus of the book is on them exiting out of Egypt. In reality them exiting Egypt was only the end result of what would happen at the establishing of making God known to the world. Consider it, Egypt was the then known power of the day much like America is today. If what took place in Egypt happened here exactly how long do you think it would take for the world to take notice? How could the name of the person responsible for bringing down a world power go unnoticed? It couldn’t, hence, the only way this reality could be hidden or disguised is if someone in History chose to remove the name of the One responsible for such a defeat. This is exactly what happens when the name of God is replaced with the title, LORD.

Now before you get livid let me go into the history of why the name was changed. In the bible when we read Exodus 20 we read the following verse which gives a reasonable explanation to why the writers chose to remove the name of God from our bible.

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Exo 20:7)

Of course to determine if they were accurate or not in their approach we must first make sure we have an understanding of the words in this command as they were given not as we would define terms today. The word in question which is the determining factor in the decision is the term “vain”. Key to knowing whether or not the decision to remove His name from our holy scriptures is in harmony with this command is making sure that we have the same understanding of the word as it was written then which requires study. So when we look up this word “vain” in our Strong’s Concordance which gives us an understanding of the meaning of the words as it was written then we find the following:

From the same as H7722 in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjectively), uselessness (as deceptive, objectively; also adverbially in vain): – false (-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity. Strongs Number H7723

Certainly we can agree that we can’t speak evil, ruin, or guile of a name we don’t know, but in removing His name from our scriptures we also render it useless and in removing it we give way to deception because if we don’t know His name how much easier will it be for us to accept any name? If all I know about your father is that he is your father, and I don’t know his name well anyone can tell me anything concerning his name and without proof or prior knowledge I am obliged or likely to believe it, right? If it wasn’t for Psalms 68:4 the one place where at least the poetic short form of God’s name appears in scripture we could make an argument that names of Pagan gods could be acceptable and many ignorantly have. Bottom line is how far should we as mankind go in our deciding what should or shouldn’t be protected from others? At what point does a scholar overstep his boundaries in preserving God’s word when he chooses to omit it? Well according to scripture it is clear that we should not add to or take away from his word, and certainly replacing a name that was present in the original text with a title seems to fit the bill for going too far. (Deut. 12:32; Rev. 22:18-19)

That aside let’s see just how many times his name was removed. The Hebrew word for YHWH is H3068, H3069, and H3050 (short form) we find that H3068 appears in 5,524 verses a total of 6,521 times in our Hebrew scriptures. The Hebrew number H3069 appears in 291 verses a total of 302 times and H3050 appears in 45 verses a total of 49 times. Now it is important to note that LORD can appear multiple times in one verse which explains why the total matches would be different from the number of verses. If we add just the number of times his name was taken out and replaced with LORD subtracting the one time it appears in Psalm 68:4 in its poetic short form (YAH or as it appears in KJV JAH) or the English rendering of his name twice (H3068) as Jehovah and twice as GOD which is another title we get a total of 6867 times in the Hebrew scriptures alone (Genesis – Malachi) that our Father’s name was replaced with a title.

The foundation to understanding all the ways he has manifested himself to us in scripture is built on knowing his name and then describing who he is to us. We will see this as we make progress in this series. When He appears to Abraham, Jacob, and many others throughout scripture his name is mentioned along with his character and I believe that this is important for us. We need to know who is our banner of victory, not just that God is a banner of victory. Especially when we live in a society where there be god’s many we need to know the one true God who breathed his breath into us that we became a living soul. Speaking of which let’s look at this magnificent name.


Yad1 This character means to “make”, “throw”, or “work”. It is the picture of a closed hand and an arm and by extension the meaning is easy to see as the primary part of our body that we use to do work is done with our arm. Thus one thing we see in the character of our Father is that he works.

hey This character means to “reveal” or “look” or “behold”. The usual response when we are in praise to the Creator is to surrender our hands to the sky recognizing and beholding the revelation of His beauty. We look to the skies as the direction of Heaven in response to how great he is with all that we as mankind can offer to him with how small we are.

waw This character means to “add”, or “secure”, or “establish”. As it is the picture of a nail or peg it reflects the meaning since we use a nail or a tent peg to secure a structure to add a board to a wall. When you nail something you have it locked in place.

When we put the characters together we see that “the hand reveals the nail revealed”. When we behold the nails in the hand of the Messiah indeed we can see that Yahushah came from His father. For Yahushah indeed is the lamb slain from the foundation of the world and the work that he has done was supposed to be told to all generations and preached everywhere, yet someone felt that the best way to preserve this truth was to hide it and thus they hold the truth in unrighteousness and rather than become an instrument of the Creator, became a tool of Ha Satan. (Rev. 13:8) Let’s consider all that Yah did so that His name could be known, he established twelve judgments upon Egypt from the rod turning into a snake to all of Egypt’s army being swallowed up in the Red Sea and ten of those judgments were plagues beginning at the water turning into blood.(Exo. 7:17) This he did for two very important reasons that Moses never neglects to allow Him or us to forget, one was to bring his people out of the house of bondage, Egypt, and the other reason was so that His name could be known. What we see is it was upon this basis that when Yah sought to wipe out the children of Israel and start over with Moses on several occasions that Moses appealed to him. Saying, if you kill all these people what would be said about you? That their God couldn’t bring them into the land that you promised. (Num. 14:15). This name was so important that it was the first of the Ten words translated commandments in Exodus twenty, which says:

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. (Exo 20:2)

Now, just to clue you in though KJV uses the word LORD doesn’t make it the original word used. The word that should be there is YHWH which should be clear anyway from the context because knowing he is the lord doesn’t tell you who he is. It tells you what relationship he has to us as mere humans, but it doesn’t tell you his name. The second part tells you something about his character based on what he did. He brought them out of Egypt and the last part tells you what he delivered them from, which means he is contrasting who he is based on what he has done and bringing them out of bondage meaning he is to be connected to the opposite of bondage, which is freedom. Therefore, how should we in turn view the next nine words he speak in Exodus 20? Here is a clue, as the road map to freedom, not the institution of bondage. Nevertheless, I will digress, the point is God wanted us to know his name, to signature him and him alone for the victory that he delivers us from and bottomline Lord just doesn’t cut it, because Lord doesn’t distinguish him from the person you pay your rent to which is a landlord or from the employer who you enslave eight to twelve hours of your day for. The term lord only means master and though he is our Lord if we make him so, he has a name that we should be familiar with. Definitely more familiar then we are with the name that signs our checks every two weeks or month.

Finally, it was very important that we tackle this issue because we will find that this will be the foundational understanding as we begin to peel another layer off of the skin of scripture in unfolding more about our father. In fact many of the times that Yah reveals more about himself it will be connected to His name. One of the words that describe our relationship to him uses the poetic short form of his name and has preserved its pronunciation across all languages and that word is HalleluYAH and we actually pronounce it more accurately then when we attempt to say his full name by using Jehovah. His name has also been encoded in many of the prophet’s name, though we miss it using the English rendering, such as Jeremiah which in Hebrew is YirmeYAHu or Isaiah which in Hebrew is YeshahYAHu, this is marvelous to consider. There’s Just Something About That Name

This Shabbat I was led to do an ancient Hebrew study on the different names that describe our God, YAH. It dawned on me that knowing Yah and His nature should really have been the very first study I ever did. How can I know who I am if I don’t know who He is, and since the Son who came in the Father’s name came down for the purpose of directing humanity back to the Creator it seems only befitting that I should endeavor to know all I can know about my Father. Seems like a no brainer yet this is the first time doing a study on the names of God even came into my mind to do. I am convicted just saying that, but I believe having that kind of heart makes the difference between those who only knows his acts, from those who he will make known His ways. (Ps 103:7)

Having an understanding of the name that is above every name automatically means studying him from a language unpolluted. (Zeph. 3:9; Php 2:9) As with anything we study it is important to start from the beginning and in the beginning the first Hebrew word we see that references God our Creator is the word ELOHIM. This word in Hebrew is phenomenal because it provides clarity to the extra biblical term that has caused so much controversy within Christendom in the West. The word is “trinity”, although the word used is not in the bible it is an accurate description to define the One God we serve in His triune nature. Many illustrations have been used to attempt to understand how this word “trinity” applies to Yah but most illustrations still seem to leave a flare of confusion that causes people to believe that “trinity” is some sort of admission to a Polytheistic god, in which Christendom is in full agreement doesn’t exist. We understand that God is definitely One God and He has no schizophrenic tendencies.

However, Zephaniah 3:9 tells us that Yah would restore unto us a pure language and one thing this pure language should have the capacity to do is lift the mystery from things that we didn’t understand and provide clarity where confusion exist. The word Elohim in Hebrew does exactly that, let’s take a look shall we.


The first thing we must know is that Hebrew is written from right to left so we would begin constructing the meaning of this word from that order. The universality of the Ancient Hebrew characters is my primary reason for believing that this is the pure language that God originally gave us in the Wilderness at Mt Sinai. It is a language that is not ambiguous in nature and doesn’t have the cloudiness of abstract symbols, and is plain enough that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand it. It is a language that is for the people and is based on what you do, not what you think. It is a concrete language based on things we have handled or have seen in our lifetime from the youngest to the oldest.

In Hebrew unlike English each symbol has a meaning, name, numerical value, and concrete function. Unlike English which is abstract and descriptive driven, Hebrew is concrete and function driven. It is verb intense rather than adjective intense. For example in English if we were required to describe something we would list how it looks, which is Greek minded, whereas in Hebrew you would describe its function, what it does.

Having this understanding we can now construct the meaning of this first descriptive word we see in the Bible to describe God. The first thing we must know is how to determine if a word is plural or singular in the bible and like English which add’s an “s” to the end of a word to make it plural or an (‘) then “s” at the end of a word to make something possessive, Hebrew also has its rules for making such things known. In Hebrew the last three characters we see pluralizes the word for God, and has been a source of confusion for many. We can in English confirm this by reading the following passage which uses the exact same word we see in Genesis 1:1.

See where the two words above have the same corresponding numbers next to it “H430”? This is distinguished from the singular word for God “El” by the number “H410”. All one would need to study this out is a Strong’s Concordance or E-Sword (computer bible program) on laptop or phone to see how this works. Now see how in verse 26 we see God uses the pronoun “us” to describe what he is doing. This is a clear indication that the word “God” here is referencing him in His plurality. However, how can we make sense of the One God we serve referencing himself in a plural form? As we put the characters together it will become increasingly clear. So enough with the suspense here it is already.

AlephThe first character in the word Elohim corresponds to our “A” in English and the Hebrew word is “Aleph” which means “strength” as an ox is a strong domestic servant.
LamedThe second character corresponds to our “L” in English and the Hebrew word is “Lamed” which is the picture of a shepherd’s staff and means “authority” as we see that it was a rod that Moses used to bring the children of Israel out.
HeyThe third character corresponds to our “H” in English and the Hebrew word is “Hey” which is the picture of someone with their hands raised up and means “Behold, Look, or See”.
YadThe fourth character corresponds to our “Y” in English and the Hebrew word is “Yad” which is the picture of a closed hand and bent arm. What do you do with your hand? You work and that is the meaning to “work, make, or throw” all are functions of a hand moving with the strength of the arm backing it.
memThe last character corresponds to our “M” in English and the Hebrew word is “mem” which is the picture of waves of water but can apply to any sort of waves. It also carries the meaning of “Chaos” as the children of Israel associated the flood of Noah with the water that was used and thus chaos was the result of the flood.

Now with the meaning of the word attached we can see how this word “Elohim” reveals the triune nature of our Creator. We can understand this in three w’s as a means of committing to memory. Let’s take the first two characters together as we have already discussed the first two characters is the equivalent of the singular form for the title “God” and both characters together reflect the picture of God as the “Strong Shepherd” or if we take its numeric value we would say he is the “first shepherd”. This would be a very accurate depiction of the Father. The third character Heymeans to reveal, so this would make the last two characters the object of what the Father reveals to us within his own nature. The fourth character Yadshows us that the “strong shepherd” which is the Father, “reveals” himself by his “work”. The last character memreveals to us another way He has made himself known to us and that is by what he spoke, as water is not only known by the waves we see, but also by the waves we hear, known as sound waves. Thus the invisible things of God from the creation of the world are clearly seen by the things which he has made (such as water) even his eternal power and Godhead. (Rom. 1:20) Therefore we have the witness of God’s existence and triune nature because they are revealed by his power (work) and his eternal word.

Finally, I mentioned above the three w’s that help us understand the trinity and those three w’s that you can share with anyone is God is revealed by His will, by his work, and by his word. Indeed He has made us in His image and likeness as stated in Genesis 1:26 because the bottom line is, how do you express your invisible will to someone else? By what you say and what you do. This is the Creator’s signature on His masterpiece.
