How to Acquire the Peaceable Life

In the wake of another shooting here in Louisiana where three officers were murdered, I would like to share my thoughts from the scripture as a citizen of Louisiana. As a citizen of color, I have just watched the press release from our officials, and was impressed with one particular speaker who hit the nail on the head concerning the issue we have in this nation. He made it clear the issue is not the ability to carry a gun, but the heart. I have heard people on both sides of the issue from black lives matter and blue lives matter, but what I am not hearing is how we can all live our lives in peace.  Which is clearly the agenda of both sides.  Yet scripture gives us instructions on how to obtain that.

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. (1 Ti 2:1-2)

I don’t know why there are people who believe that prayer is either doing nothing or being passive, but prayer is the most important weapon we can use in this hour. Before one of the greatest warriors went to battle and won victoriously he sought YHVH in prayer. This man even in the face of unjust threat of death by the King of Israel, didn’t pursue the death of the King. Not because of his respect for King Saul, but because of his respect for the Giver of the authority the King possessed. He didn’t just talk to God, but waited on God to give him the answer necessary to proceed.  This man’s name was David, and he would become King of Israel, and it was said of him that he was a man after God’s own heart.  (1 Sam. 13:14)  I perceive this is not just because he respected authority, but the reason he respected authority.  He respected the authority of the Almighty and that is what God is looking for.  Our love for Him. Jesus when questioned by Pilate stated he wouldn’t have no power except it was given to him from above. (John 19:11)  Once again recognizing that even in the face of an unjust system that the authority of that system comes from above, and as Messiah makes clear in that same context that no unjust deed on earth goes unpunished or unnoticed from our heavenly Father.  Thus, He tells us vengeance is His, and He will repay. (Rom 12:19)

No injustice on earth goes unchecked by the Almighty!

Realizing the severity of the punishment when He begin to repay should produce in us the same Spirit that was in Christ on the cross or Stephen who was being stoned.  In one word “prayer”.  It takes more strength to pray for someone who is doing you wrong or who you perceive is doing you wrong then to retaliate.  To hate them that hate you is as easy as it is to love those who love you.

This scripture in 1 Timothy is setting in place that order is important. Notice who these “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks” are to be made for first, “all men” and then specifically, “kings, all that are in authority”.

Is it possible that we are seeing the intensity we are seeing because we stop praying for those who are in authority?  Because we are exhorted to give our supplications (requests), prayer, intercession, and thanks for “all in authority” so that “we” might lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  That word all doesn’t stop at just praying for the President, or for your own personal pick in congress, but requires we pray for those who we voted for and those who we didn’t vote for.  This includes our military and our police.   If we don’t do this, what you think the outcome will be? Turn on your news, we are seeing the product of neglecting to follow this exhortation.

Finally, there came a time where David did take out the authority of the world, we see this in him taking out Goliath, but under the authority only of YHVH could he be victorious. We don’t get to pick and choose who is taken out, this is only within the hand of the Almighty and based on His timing. King Saul was told to wipe out all of the people of the Amalekites, this included the King of that land. However, this was only based on the Lord’s clear instructions. Which is why it is so vitally important that we have the Spirit of YHVH operating within us. How do we know what we are seeing before our eyes is not of YHVH? God didn’t send his people on suicide missions.  When the children of Israel obeyed YHVH they didn’t lose their battle. Their victory was clear, and their loss of minimal if at all.  The only time the children of Israel lost a battle is when they went without the permission of YHVH. Without the Spirit of YHVH we will find ourselves outside of the will of God, and in opposition to Him. This is a dangerous place to be, yet where unfortunately many of our people are finding ourselves.

Let’s direct our anger against injustice, cry out for righteous rulers. Pray that the heart of the king will submit to the Almighty so that they will rule the land in justice, mercy, and right rulings. Pray for husbands and Fathers, local, state, regional, and national leaders, ministers, and our young men who will one day fill these positions of leadership. Our greatest strength will be in our submission to the will and word of the Almighty. Outside of this we are in danger, and we cannot fulfill His will without knowing what it is and who He is.

There are some principles in scripture that we as a nation better began to understand.  While we may pattern our military wisdom from studying the playbook of Alexander the Great.  The serpent was who our Messiah told us to turn to for wisdom as believers.  In this hour believers who don’t understand what Yahushah (Jesus) meant by this will be completely shaken by the world and the battle to come.  Isn’t it interesting God didn’t say be ye as wise as Solomon, though he was given wisdom unlike any other man.  Think about it, we are in the situation as humans that we are in because a serpent was able to deceive Eve.  We need to tap into the wisdom of a serpent from a heavenly perspective, so that we would be able to defeat the enemy of our lives with the wisdom that God has made available in the earth.  I will be sharing what I received from my study in my e-book. This e-book will show you:

  1. How the characteristics of a serpent can translate into wisdom for a believer and how we should walk in that wisdom.
  2. How to extract Spiritual principles from  understanding the natural character traits of how God created the serpent.
  3. Often times we don’t get what we need in our walk with Christ because we don’t ask the right questions.  The right questions in how we study can make a tremendous difference in its benefit for us.  It is insightful in that it will ask questions at the end of each chapter so that you can reflect on them and gauge if you are using this wisdom in your life.

The e-book is currently in pre-production, but you can fill out the form below to let me know that you are interested in reserving a copy.  The cost will be $5.00.  I am making e-books to save on the cost of printing.  If you would prefer a hard copy please let me know as you submit me your contact information, if enough people are interested in a hard copy I will provide print on demand, but the cost will be more.

Respect the Office

I am becoming more sensitive to the vocalization taking place against the authority in our land. This message is to believers not to the world, because Yah made it clear he will judge the world, we are called to judge matters from within. (1 Cor. 5:12) Having said that this is the problem, regardless of the state of affairs that is taking place Yah’s word makes it clear that we are NOT to disrespect the authority that He has put in place. Whether you voted at all, or voted for or against the current men in our current administration is irrelevant, the point is they are in office and once they take that oath and fill that position, any criticism you may have of them (not their policies) needs to be done between you and Yah. Social media, or personal pot shots amongst family and friends dishonors Yah.

Just imagine if Yahushah would have said some of the vial things that I see being stated against the current administration today to Pilate? I mean afterall he was being brought up on capital punishment charges not being guilty, if anyone deserved to have a grievance it was Yahushah, but instead he makes a very clear statement to Pilate that we should take heed to because it applies in our current administration.

Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. (Joh 19:11) Emphasis mine

Please recognize that the power (position) a man holds in authority over people is allowed him by the Father. If Yah wanted Pilate out of the equation he could have done so without a vote. As sure as Ananias and Sapphira dropped dead where they spoke. (Acts 5) However, he didn’t stop Pilate from carrying out this act though he could have a number of ways. It is also important to note who God said had the greater sin. Consider when you vote or don’t vote how God views your decisions. What exactly is motivating your voting decision? Are you seeking his will or your own? Because in many instances while we are looking at the man in office, Yah is looking at the people who put him there.

There is a mandate that is given to believers as it relates to how we should respond to authority and it is in 1 Timothy.

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for ALL that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; (1Ti 2:1-3) Emphasis mine

I have heard from believers ridiculous reasons why they can justify ignoring this command that points to the fact that they believe he is the beast. Yet, concerning the Angels, God says this,

“Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” (Jud 1:9)

Now certainly if Yah wouldn’t allow Michael on his own accord to rebuke the devil, what makes us think that even if we believed the President to be the devil that we would have justification to speak against him? But rather we begin to fall under the category of those mentioned after this verse,

“But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.” (Jud 1:10)

Please understand that it sickens me when I see what this country is becoming from a spiritual perspective. I see the headlines just as many of you do and it doesn’t look good. I have been guilty of saying and feeling the same way you do but I am increasingly becoming convicted that regardless of how valid my issues are that this doesn’t give me the right to speak against our President. But scripture teaches us its okay to be angry but we are to sin not. (Eph. 4:26) As much as I hate the murders of millions of innocent babies, the legalization of covenants that are not within the governments domain the forcing of our children in schools to be taught that such abnormal affections are normal, none of these things give me the right to put my mouth on the man who holds this position of authority. As Paul who was being smitten contrary to the law stated,

Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest? Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people. (Act 23:3-5) Emphasis mine

We need to REPENT! We cannot expect that Yah is going to hear our prayers for healing our nation while we are speaking boldly in opposition of a man whom he has allowed to hold that position. It just doesn’t work.

David was a man after God’s own heart because he respected authority, even in the face of authority wrongfully pursuing him to kill him. Beloved, it should be our desire to have a heart like David that even in the face of being wrongfully abused or misused by authority we still respect the position that Yah has given him. We must recognize that this is Yah’s anointed. David asked Abishai, when he was in a position to take out King Saul a question that we need to be able to answer.

1Sa 26:9  And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD’S anointed, and be guiltless?

Notice David doesn’t even mention the man in the position, he keeps his focus on what’s important, and we likewise would do well to do the same.  Why, you ask?  Because it is not about the man, it is about the position the man was given, this position is of God and we CANNOT put our mouth on him, period.

Finally, speak boldly against the atrocities you see going on today because like Ezekiel warns us if we see trouble coming and warn not the people their blood will be on our hands. We are commissioned to tell people to stop their sin and we can aim all of our spiritual artillery straight in its direction knowing that all of heaven will back us up as we preach the Gospel and share the truth of God’s word. But here me clearly DON’T PUT YOUR MOUTH ON THE MAN WHO HOLDS THE POSITION OF AUTHORITY. If Yah permits you or leads you to say, The Lord Rebukes you just as David also said He was coming against Goliath in the Name of the Lord, that is how you do it. But please beloved let it not be flesh initiated. Because what is flesh initiated will be spiritually investigated and I assure you, you don’t want to deal with Yah’s internal affairs department, you will be found wanting. The authority thing is so serious with Yah that children were stoned for rebellion against their parents. (Deut. 21:18-21)

Please understand me clearly, we see what a “man” is doing, but notice that God is focusing on the “position” and what we are doing with that. The command concerning parents is on their position, the commandment concerning those who are rulers of your people is on the position. Not because of the man, but because of the position. Now mind you I am not talking to those who have an issue with the President because he is black, because if that is your issue, you may not be saved. I’m gonna be completely honest with you, there is absolutely NO scriptural justification for someone having a problem with someone because of the color of their skin. I am communicating this message to those who have VALID frustrations and grievances based on scriptural principles being violated and usurpation of authority that is not given to the office.

Our responsibility as believers is to pray for Him, not against him. Pray for all men everywhere, and why you say? That WE might live a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. I can’t say it better than the book of Timothy did. Your peace and quietness depends on it.

Declaration of Righteous Dependence on Yah

This fourth of July we celebrate the liberty we received as a nation from British Rule. We acknowledge the twenty-seven reasons under which we sought separation from Britain and chose to establish our own government. This founding document clearly acknowledges that our sovereignty is based on the inalienable rights provided to us by our Creator.

The Declaration establishes that we as mankind have inalienable rights, as well as to whom the Giver of those rights are. This being the introduction to what would be our governing document, the Constitution, would clearly reveal that the founders of the United States of America had an understanding of the priority Yah (God) played in their existence. The constitution separates the first ten amendments, which are called the “Bill of Rights” which mimic the same style of writing we see in the Bible when Yah proclaims the “Ten Commandments”. Is it mere coincidence? Like the Ten Commandments the Bill of Rights also do not constitute the whole of the laws given, yet they do set a level of priority and governing framework for which all other amendments are built from. Is this coincidence or divine providence?

Just in case that wasn’t enough of a clue for us to see the hand of the Almighty involved in our founding the very first part of the ten amendments deal with freedom of Religion. Why would it be important for people to have freedom to organize or assemble according to their faith not be hindered by government intervention? This isn’t hard to understand if we just understand the history that caused the birth of this nation to begin with. Consider the interesting wording, it is clear just in how it was worded that there was a high regard for religion and a strong desire to protect the right of the people to exercise their religious convictions. Take note of the order established here. They could have started it a number of different ways, but the fact that they chose religion reflects the level of importance they considered it to have.

Scripture defines pure religion and undefiled before the Father as visiting the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and keeping oneself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27) Considering most of the writers had a Christian background and many were Abolitionists they would have understood the benefits of pure religion to free enterprise and recognized the exercising of religion could only benefit any society. I would submit to you that it is the anchor of the text and rightfully so because it is the one freedom that without it all the others become subjective, and thus without the freedom of religion you soon won’t have the other freedoms either.

Is this not what we see today; the slow eradication of our constitutional rights. Circumstances and precedence is slowly but surely becoming the eraser of these very rights that as indicated in the declaration are God given. Having said that are we on the brink of approaching a time that we will find ourselves saying the same things that lead to our founding fathers declaring independence from the country of its birth? Are we finding ourselves at the place where the course of human events, shall make it necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and are we being forced to choose to side with the unjust laws of mankind over the laws of nature and natures God? How are we to proceed in light of a very real and deliberate act of treason being performed against us based on our constitutional rights? If we abort the Birth we destroy the life within it. If we destroy the Birth Certificate of a nation (The Declaration of Independence) we can destroy the nation produced out of it.

The unmistakable truth that resides in both documents reflect that humanity must have independence from human rule so that it can be dependent on Yah to rule. We are a government that inspite of popular opinion is not based on the majority rule. Had that been the case many of us would still be forced to work on plantations and in slavery since the majority that ruled considered us as less than human. We are a republic form of government that is based on the laws of the land rule and no one, including those who are in government are above the laws that are written. If we ignore this truth we will abort the very documents that give us legitimacy as a nation and the United States will find itself inevitably becoming the Divided States and history once again will repeat itself. We can only declare independence from tyranny, if we have declared a righteous dependence on God.
