Which Card(s) Are In Your Wallet?

race card.jpg

There is the infamous race card. The U.S. is color struck determining superiority or inferiority based on the color of someone’s skin. Scripture doesn’t speak in such terms, but instead reminds us how the nations have come into existence. The differences in the hue of our skin was by His design, not a man made invention. One family, Noah’s, repopulated the world. Which makes all of us regardless of our color distant relatives.

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; Act 17:26.

Next we have the gender card. Just as we have been compelled to make a decision based on the race card, we now are making decisions based on the gender card. When YHVH created man and woman He created us with purpose. Our distinctive roles were and are not in Christ a hindrance to us achieving the mission that Yah has us on. Once again, gender distinction in its proper place is natural, but when it becomes the wild card to justify one gaining a position it’s dangerous.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Gen 1:27)

moneycard.jpgThen we have the money card. In our society this card trumps them all (no pun intended). With this card your race or your gender is of little consequence. But more dangerous is with this card one can decide who lives and who dies, will kill and make alive. For this card lives are expendable. This card gains the loyalty of all who holds it. Apart from the Father making you rich this card can steal your soul. It has the capacity to become your master, and at your end it won’t comfort, console, or save you. Let us never forget who it is that gives us power to create wealth. Definitely let us not consider a persons bank account as justification for position. Dictatorships are built on such dynasties, and the needs of the majority of the population will seldom be met.  Also, let us not count on the words of anyone who would use saving our economy as the motivation behind their election.  To make economics the reason for why we vote is to chase fools gold.  Trust that if we get on course with God He will do what His word says He will do.  He will make our enemies to be at peace with us, He will bless the fruit of our labor, and prosper us in the way.  To depend on government for our economic success will lead to many restless nights and crushed hopes.

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. (Deu 8:18)

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. (Pro 10:22)

Wealth wrongfully acquired leads to every evil work. Women have been enslaved to sex trafficking because of it. A whole group of people were stolen from their land and shipped across the waters treated like commodity for the love of it.  Babies are murdered everyday because of the lack of it.  A substance that is made from a tree has so much authority over the decisions that we make, it is both a necessity for life in this country and the taker of life at the same time.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1Ti 6:10)

The reason why I ask the question, what’s in your wallet is not only to be a pretty clever pun on the Capital One slogan, but to pinpoint who or what it is you are relying on or trusting in to save the day or to gain you access to your destiny. If we are relying on the race card we are either depending on our color to get us jobs our talent couldn’t open for us, or using our color as an excuse for why we couldn’t fulfill whatever purpose or plan God has for us. Either way we are looking at external factors that we had no choice in producing, it was purely by the will of the Almighty that we came out whatever complexion we came out as, and a person who believes that a person is inferior or superior because of it is a fool. Our complexion like our features are not something humanity has the ability to control, it is purely by the election of God Almighty alone that we look the way we do. The fact that man would even think he has the power to hold something against someone that he himself couldn’t create or control is out of bounds.

However, we should never make the mistake of believing because someone is of our tribe or of our skin that they are for us. I often think about the fact that when Jesus (Yahushah) walked the earth he emphasized “he that hath an ear to hear.”  Notice what is not said, he doesn’t say “he that hath an eye to see.” I believe it comes from the scripture “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Not out of the abundance of the heart the eye sees. I believe for so many people the desire to see someone of color in office was so great that they would have voted for the devil if he came in black skin and spoke with charisma just because. Equally as sad is on the other side if God himself put his finger on a black man as His choice many people still wouldn’t vote for him, again because of his skin.  I also think that we will willingly overlook the compromises of morality in order to justify our decision, and this I believe is why we are more prone to deception. We won’t even recognize when one of our own are setting us up for destruction, and won’t even know when we have a Judas in our camp because we are too busy looking instead of listening.

Unapologetically, I am a black woman, make no bones about it, and take no offense to it. I embrace my heritage, I am thankful for the color God made me, and the family he gave me, but I take no pride in it. Pride scripturally is always associated with things that the Lord hates and therefore I refuse to allow it to be something that I attribute to my color or my gender. I too am glad to be a woman, the ability to be the progenitor of life, the incubator for God’s miracle an honor that has only been bestowed upon women by the Creator. Take no offense to being considered the “weaker vessel” because I realize that things of great value are usually fragile by nature. I am by design the picture of the one who He is returning for, a bride and my aim is to be without spot, wrinkle, or any such thing. So I am daily having to make sure my garment is ready against the day he will return for me. My gender allows me to walk out the picture of the one Yahushah comes back for and it’s a beautiful thing. But, I refuse to allow my gender to become that which I take pride in because once again I will compromise my ability to hear God if I get caught up in what I see. If I allow external precedence to blind me to internal truths, I will be open to deception. We cannot look at who runs our nation the way we do a little league team. Sure in little league you allow everyone to go to bat even if they can’t hit a ball, in a game this makes sense, for determining who should lead the free world it is dangerous. When a person won’t defend the most innocent life among us, they can’t be trusted to look out for the best interest of all of us. Murdering a baby shouldn’t be a right. A person who won’t stand up for the right of the speechless, can’t be trusted to stand up for me.  No man or woman has the right to call holy that which God has already said is an abomination.

At the end of the day we are a people governed by the people, and we are called to elect representatives who represent us. Having said that how can one vote for anyone who doesn’t represent him or her, except they vote a lie?  Whether their skin is brown or they wear a dress, if we allow precedence to be an excuse to abort voting based on our core beliefs then by that measure we open the door based on “precedence” for the LGBT, the polygamist, and those who practice bestiality.  These things may be the lifestyle of a person, but they certainly shouldn’t be the reason why we vote for them.   My point is if you plan to vote, vote your convictions. We are not pulling out race cards, gender cards, or money cards as some sort of pass we give our elected officials so that we can appear sympathetic without really having an ear to hear from God.

I know I have written a lot about the race card and gender card, but there is another card that is played. This card often can cancel the other ones out for people. If the economy is your wild card you’ll sell out your convictions concerning when life begins and what constitutes marriage, for the right price or promise of a booming economy. People would rant and rave over how much public figures did for us in eliminating the deficit, but never focus on how that deficit was removed. How that money was made didn’t matter as long as we were on top. Therefore, if it came from pornography, sex trafficking, or even drugs it wouldn’t matter as long as our economy was secure. Ready to abandon any sense of morality and can justify it on the basis of keeping the good life America seems to offer those who are fit enough to survive its abuse in exchange for her promise of fame.  Yet scripture teaches us that these types of compromises are not necessary to prosper. I don’t have to be a prostitute to profit. I also don’t have to make you one in order to profit. But rather scripture teaches us that God maketh a man rich and adds no sorrow with it. I don’t have to corrupt the minds of our populace to be profitable, nor support an industry that promotes such things to keep it afloat. I just have to be obedient to God, and He will supply the unmerited favor that makes my enemies my footstool. Which means I will have peace in my borders, because if the Lord delights in me he will make my enemy my footstool.  With long life and good health will he satisfy me.  The point I am making is you may have one, two, or all three of these cards working for or against you in some way, but all of these cards will cost you something in life.

But there is one card that trumps them all that I haven’t spoken about yet. If you have this card it is like the wild card, all the other three cards you have don’t matter in comparison to it.

gracecard

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Gal 3:28)

In Christ your nationality, your socioeconomic status, nor your gender makes a difference. We are one in Him. Don’t expect the world to feel that way, you will always have men who think they are better than women, which in turn produces women who feel they have to prove why they are better than men. You will have rich who feel they are better than poor people and one nationality of people who think they are better than another. But if you have the grace card then you realize that the unmerited favor upon your life is not because of anything you’ve done, or any position you hold, but squarely lies on the shoulders of the One who deemed your worth by making himself a ransom for you, that is Christ. The grace card isn’t earned, nor are you born with it, but you receive it as a gift.  In fact you are reborn into His family, leaving the family of darkness which we all inherited from the First Adam, to enter into the kingdom of light which we receive when we are born again from the Spirit of God.  By His grace we receive the unmerited favor to live a holy, set apart life to our King. It is my prayer that every reader of mine aspire to have this card in their wallet.
